17 Ugliest Celebrity Feuds—Wife Snatchers and Obsessed Stalkers

1. Tom Cruise vs. Brooke Shields

When Matt Lauer interviewed Tom Cruise, Cruise made some controversial comments about Brooke Shields. Brooke described her postpartum depression in her book “Down Came the Rain,” and her treatment for it. Tom decided he had the qualifications to comment on postpartum depression, and said she should have treated it with vitamins and exercise rather than medication. Uh oh, there’s that pesky Scientology again!

Shields responded in a piece for the New York Times where she said “While Mr. Cruise says that Mr. Lauer and I do not ‘understand the history of psychiatry,’ I’m going to take a wild guess and say that Mr. Cruise has never suffered from postpartum depression.” And added “In a strange way, it was comforting to me when my obstetrician told me that my feelings of extreme despair and my suicidal thoughts were directly tied to a biochemical shift in my body. Once we admit that postpartum is a serious medical condition, then the treatment becomes more available and socially acceptable.”

Okay, how can you tell someone experiencing suicidal ideation that they just need to take some vitamins and work out more? That is entirely ignorant of the effects that depression has on a person.

2. Nicki Minaj vs. Mariah Carey

These two divas clashed when filming American Idol in North Carolina. Mariah had reportedly been getting under Nicki’s skin for hours until Nicki finally erupted in an onslaught of vitriol. Threats of violence were reported to have surfaced during the verbal clash, and producers decided to take a break from filming to let the tension cool down.

They have continued to give one another jabs in interviews and on Twitter, with Minaj tweeting “Why a woman SO successful at her age, is still so INSECURE, and bitter.”

3. Kim Kardashian vs. Jon Hamm

John Hamm occasionally makes remarks at Kim’s expense. He’s called her a “f***ing idiot,” and said in an interview “The sexy thing is so ephemeral and meaningless other than in the world of selling magazines…Who cares, when it’s reduced to just that? You might as well be a Kardashian and have a sex tape.” Hamm was referencing Kim’s well-known exploits with Ray J.

He continued, saying “whether it’s Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated. Being a f***ing idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you’re rewarded significantly.”

Kim and the other Kardashians responded on Twitter, saying the comments were “careless.”

4. Joan Rivers vs. Chelsea Handler

Joan apparently takes issue with Chelsea Handler. Specifically, Joan takes issue with Chelsea Handler’s choice of men. Rivers has said on the topic of Chelsea that “she’s an ordinary girl that was f*****g somebody high up in the industry and they gave her a break and she’s doing okay.” She later continued “the girl made it on her back f***ing the president, we all know that, of the network.”

Handler dated Ted Harbet, the guy who oversaw E!. The two broke up back in 2010 after 4 years together, and Chelsea’s show continues to be renewed due to its success.

When asked about Joan’s comments on Howard Stern, Chelsea simply asked “Joan Rivers? What the f*** do I care about Joan Rivers?”
